Absent Today (11/22) - Class work for Period 5,6 & 8 on 11/26

Unfortunately I am absent today’s a I am at a conference. Please respond to the following prompt... Question Prompt :   Do you think it is important that we learn art in school? Please explain why you think so.  Responses should be 1-3 paragraphs. Students are to post their answers on their Media Arts blog. Posting will count as a quiz grade!  After posting, students can finish making up missing work or do an Extra Credit Assignment. Selective Coloring an Image

CLICK HERE FOR THE DO NOW! - - - - - - - - - - Have you ever seen an image like this? Everything is black and white, except for one specific part of the image- in this case, the street art. This is called  Selective Color.   Selective Color is when you choose one specific color (or a part of an image) to keep in color while turning the rest of the image black and white. It seems complicated, but is actually quite easy.  Directions : Step  1 - Select an image that you want to try selective color on. In this photo, I want only the blue umbrella to be in color. Open the image in Photoshop.  Step 2 - Use a Selection Tool (Quick Select or Magic Wand) to select the color you want to keep. Make sure you select all of the color! Step 3 - Go to the top to  Select- Inverse .    This will reverse or switch your selection. ATMOSPHERIC PERSPECTIVE Below is a landscape of some hills. What do you notice about the color of the hills as they get farther away? Does the color stay the same or change?   Now let's talk about value.  The word 'value' means how light or dark something is. In order to make it easier for you to look at the value, here is a photograph in gray scale. The hills appear to fade into the distance and they become lighter as they get farther away. Why do you think they do that? Gray scale photograph This picture clearly shows how objects fade in the distance. The hills in the background appear lighter in value. Let's look at some other landscape photographs now In all of the above photographs, the background appears to fade off into the distance.
