Making Our First GIF

   Open Photoshop and go to New- File            Height: 4 inches Width:  6 inches Resolution: 250- 300 pixels/inch Find a background that you want to use on Google and paste it into the file in Photoshop      CTRL-V to Paste      CTRL-T to Resize/Transform the image Paste in the subject that you want to use (the picture of me or the cat)       Arrange the image as you want the GIF to start out- consider the size and placement of the image File- Save the image first as a .PSD and then File- Save As as a .JPEG            Describe the action and add 1 at the end (this is the first image of the GIF sequence)      Ex: Dancing Cat 1         Ms. W Dancing 1 Now move the figure in some way. You can move it, rotate, change it size, etc. File- Save As      The Title it the same as the last one but change the number from 1 to 2 (this is the second image of the GIF sequence)

GIF- What is it?

1. What does GIF stand for? Via:  Tumblr GIF stands for  Graphics Interchange Format , a "bitmap image format widely used on the Internet for its flexible web support and portability."  Basically, a GIF is an  image file format , like a .jpg, or .png. It was  invented  by  Steve Wilhite  in 1987. Not all GIFs are  animated , but the popular usage of GIF involves animation, or movement.  2. Is it pronounced 'GIF' like 'gift' or 'GIF' like the peanut butter brand? Via:  Giphy Lets see if we can't get some answers form goold old YouTube!  The internet is filled with different GIFs for all sorts of things. Probably the most helpful resource in finding these GIs is the website GIPHY . Try to find a couple of GIFs that you like! SO MANY GIFS!! We are going to begin to make our own GIFs. Inspiration vs Imitation

Copyright is an important issue in today's art world. What do you know about Copyright? Copyright :  a legal means of protecting an author's work. It  provides exclusive publication, distribution, and usage rights for the author. This means whatever content the author created cannot be used or published by anyone else without the consent of the author. It is easy to copy something and claim it as your own, but is that right? How to Put your Two Files Together in Photoshop Open both your Drawing and Spray Paper files in Photoshop. To increase some of the color of the Spray Paper, you should use the Adjustments Tools panel.       Some helpful tools include… Brightness/Contrast Hue/Saturation Vibrance When done adjusting Spray Paper colors, you can now go to your Drawing file. After you have made sure that it is “cleaned up” (cropped, all black markings gone, etc) do the following steps… Ctrl- A (select the whole image) Ctrl- C (copy) Go to your Spray Paper file Ctrl-V (paste) Your drawing should now be on top of your Spray Paper. If you need to make the Drawing bigger or smaller, use Ctrl-T and move the boxes on the corners to change the size. When done, press Enter Now to get rid of the white that is showing, use the Magic Wand tool to select the white you want to get rid of. After choosing what you want to get rid of, press the Backspace
