GIF- What is it?

1. What does GIF stand for?

GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format, a "bitmap image format widely used on the Internet for its flexible web support and portability."  Basically, a GIF is an image file format, like a .jpg, or .png. It was invented by Steve Wilhite in 1987. Not all GIFs are animated, but the popular usage of GIF involves animation, or movement. 

2. Is it pronounced 'GIF' like 'gift' or 'GIF' like the peanut butter brand?

The internet is filled with different GIFs for all sorts of things. Probably the most helpful resource in finding these GIs is the website GIPHY. Try to find a couple of GIFs that you like!

Spot Healing Brush Tool

  The Spot Healing Brush Tool is the default "healing"  and can be used to clone areas from an image and blend the pixels from the sampled area seamlessly with the target area. With it, you literally take a spot of some kind (usually a pimple or some type of scar mark) and can heal it, or make it go away. Below is a Before and After . Create an Animal Hybrid

We will begin to day to create our own unique animal hybrids. They can be from your own choosing, or you can reference mythical examples (centaur, hippogriff, minotaur, etc). 2) Insert the pictures into Photoshop. You will need to use a variety of different tools to blend the animals together. Some tools in particular are...      - Layer Mask      - Selection Tools (Magic Wand, Quick Selection, Lasso)      - Copy & Paste 3) Keep in mind the background you are using. Does it make sense for your animal to be there?  4) Post your work!  **You must create at least 4 animal hybrids & post them on your class blog** Due 5/17!!
