Food photography is a form of photography easily accessible to everyone. The rise of social media has increased the number of food images on social media as a trend. Food photography and social media can impact foodservice operations.

We will start with an article about food photography and the photography of Isabella Cassini. Here is a link to her website. I recommend looking at her other works. She takes an interesting approach to her photography in how she arranges the food items.

Please read the article below and then answer the following questions on your Media Arts blog...

1)  What do you think of food photography? Do you like it or not? Do you think it is important?

2) What do you think of Isabella Cassini's work? Do you like it or not? Was there a favorite image of yours that she took? Please make sure you explain why you feel the way you do!

3) Was there anything in the article that you found surprising at all?

If you can't access the article above, here is a link to the article.

Photo Assignment: Take some of your own food photos!

By next Friday 3/27, take 5 photos showing food. Please avoid taking 5 photos of the same food item. You want to consider the following...
                                         - lighting (avoid images being too dark/light)
                                         - make sure the image is in focus & not blurry
                                         - the background should be simple/not distracting
                                         - avoid showing any people in the photo
                                         - angles in which you are taking the photo

These 5 images should be edited and submitted to your blog. If you are not able to post your photos, you can email them to me or send them on Jupiter.
