Week 10 (5/26-5/29)- Project Redo

Over this year in Media Arts, we have done a lot of projects. From Zentangles, creating GIFS and exploring photography, there is so much you have done and learned from this year. I'm only sorry that we couldn't finish the year all together in school.  This assignment this week is to go back and "re-do" an assignment from this year. You can try out a new idea or new technique that you learned since making the original, or maybe you just really enjoyed the project over all.  Alternatives for Photoshop include, but are not limited to... Pixlr Photopea Canva (most useful if you want to re-do the Me-Zine project) To re-cap, here are some of the main projects we have done through out the year. When you post your final work, please include the name of the project you did. Zentangle    * If you draw a zentangle, take a photo of it to submit it Atmospheric Perspective Mountains Cityscape GIF    Photo Scavenger Hunt - at least 5 total Theme Phot

On your blog, choose your favorite abstract photographer shown above. Explain... Which photographer is your favorite? Why? Does this photographer inspire you in any way taking photos for this assignment 2. Take 3 close up photos of different objects to create your own abstract photos. Week 8 (5/11-15)- Agoraphobic Photographer

Image
I just want to say, great job on last week's assignment everyone! I loved seeing your freestyle editing and hearing your process in creating your images. I think it is important as artists that you have freedom in what you create and the chance to explore your own art-making.  From what I heard from the exit Tickets, most students liked Pixlr. However, some students mentioned that it was not similar enough to Photoshop. If that is the case, I would recommend to try out another site called Photopea .  This is not this week's assignment, but just wanted to share another resource for you. - - - - Assignment:     With all of us being stuck inside due to the current circumstances, I thought I would share the work and process of Jacqui Kenny. From her London home, she explores the world—with the help of Google Street View. Then, using the screenshots she captures, she creates evocative images with a distinct point of view.     Guellaia, Medenine, Tunisia. Photograph by

In class this year, we would use Photoshop to regularly edit our images. As Photoshop is not available to us at this time, I want to introduce you to a program that can work similar to it. Pixlr is a free online program that lets you edit images similar to Photoshop. It is also available as a free app!  Pixlr App link for iOS   Pixlr App link for Android Below is a video that briefly goes through how to use Pixlr. Playful Pixlr X is more user friendly and easier to use when first trying out Pixlr. You can also try Advanced Pixlr E if you want to try a more advanced program. Were they your own, or did you use Google/stock imag

Week 6 (4/27-5/1)- Altered Images/Photography

Image
Back in 2015, the Bronx Documentary Center lead an exhibition called "Altered Images". The exhibition was made of posed and manipulated documentary photos. Go through some of the images from the exhibition website Website: http://www.alteredimagesbdc.org/ Something to keep in mind is what Documentary Photography is. Documentary photographs are accurate representations of the scene that a photographer captures with their camera. By having a photo deemed Documentary, how much should it be manipulated or changed? Assignment (due Friday, 5/1) : Choose 4 images that were altered in some way. For each photo, please copy & paste it into your blog. Then tell me how it was altered. Finally, what do you think of the change/alteration that was done? Do you think it impacts the image? Does it matter that it was done? Below is an Example: In this image, the photo was actually staged to create a positive outlook on the war in Iraq. Behind Bush, the sign reads "
